Over the past few months Arsenal scouts have been looking at many players – creative midfielders in particular. It is well known that the club are keen on Mario Goetze with scouts making regular visits to see him in action, he will get no better chance to impress than next week against Arsenal at the Emirates.
Tomas Rosicky is approaching the end of his career, his contract is up for renewal soon and from what I have heard the chances of that happening are looking pretty bleak. After missing so much football due to his rare hamstring injury it was always going to be tricky to hit the standards he set himself pre-injury, he is currently a very useful member of the squad in the sense that he is happy to be a squad player and he is also active in helping younger players progress – this is also where Arsene Wenger feels his future lies. It would not be the least bit surprising if Rosicky was an Arsenal coach in the future.
At 31 years of age he theoretically still has plenty of football left in him, he still holds down an important role in the Czech Republic international team as captain and would understandably be reluctant to give that up without a fight. The gap between the end of his Arsenal career and the start of his coaching career will probably be spent in Germany where he still has a large following, inquiries over his availability have been regular over the past few years and he has been closer to the exit door than some may realise.
There is no coincidence that Arsenal are looking at life after Rosicky, it is only in the past couple of months that efforts have really been ramped up in the search for another creative midfielder – Rosicky is getting on, Diaby is still on the treatment table and that leaves Wilshere, Ramsey and Arteta to share the creative slots in midfield.
If he gets the chance to string a run of good performances together this season, who knows if Arsenal will hand him a contract offer. Right now though the chances of that are looking pretty slim.

Do you know Tresor Mputu?
The best player in Africa and a perfect replacement
Am really gonna miss rosisky in dat no7 jersey wat a Player
Tresor Mputu? Don’t make me laugh. Along with Goetze other possibilities are Hazard (doubtful), Marvin Martin, Christian Eriksen and Marco Reus.
The irony is that Rosicky is playing better now than he has for many years.
he is a player that takes chances.the confidence is there and plays better than the last few years
hahaha, the guy who wrote about tresor mputu – your about 5 years behind the times. oh and also he is a striker
Rosicky was actually a striker when we bought him from B Dortmund. How about TR7 being the makeweight in a deal for gotze in january? its ironic that we could get £15m for arshavin in january but nothing for rosicky in may, when the latter is playing far better than arshavin is.
Henri Lansbury. I think Lansbury would be a good fit to replace Rosicky. A good offensive midfielder, one who can come off the bench and make an impact. I think Wenger might have moved Rosicky this last summer, but too many key players left and he needed some continuity in midfield. Yes, he is playing some of his best football in quite a while.
Mate Arshavin is on another planet to Rosicky.
oguzhan ozyakup and chucks aneke should be first in the list. one of them should shine giving chance before january. if not then we send them on loan and bring in a new playmaker.
and we still have jack wilshere to come back from injury.
how about sahin, krasic, gotze, hazard, sow, fellaini
dude, you forgot song and benayoun as creative midfielding outlets.
letting him go would be a huge mistake. arsenal is in dire need of experienced players who can help transition the youngsters into the team..like giggs, scholes, neville did for united.
i hope wenger realizes that and lets go of diaby instead who costs more and plays less.
tresor mputu lol… when we were linked with him therewas only one video on youtube of him and that was mputu taking a shot at someone’s nuts from behind lmao…. rosicky is my fav player that currently plays football.
Rosicky was always a central/attacking midfielder. That’s how he made his name known at Dortmund. In Arsenal we used to play him on the wing in the 4-4-2 formation, something he wasn’t exactly comfortable with, but he managed some good performances. After his comeback from injury, he was used on the wing, in the 4-3-3 formation where he clearly couldn’t help the team as much as he wanted to. This year, he is looking better, because he is used in Cesc’s role behind the striker, where he can dictate the game as he likes. He will be a good substitute to Ramsey and a great influence for the Welshman. Aaron can learn a lot from Thomas. If we don’t find another player for the position (Martin, Gourcouff, Reus, Hazard, Gotze, Grosskreutz etc), I would enjoy the prospect of signing him on for another year or two. He is not that old and he has a great attitude. He also is a fellow metalhead…
i think james troisi the australian would be the best replacement, cheap 24 year old but alot of potential
I think Wenger is putting together a team of playes around 20yo who are already good enough for a top 4 EPL team and will get better but will also play together for many years (assuming clubs like Man City have their spending power curtailed). There is no outstandingly creative young central midfielder so I agree that we will see one bought very soon with Rosicky nearing the end of his career. Goetze looks very impressive and Hazard is clearly a superstar in the making but competition for him is ridiculously high if you believe the press.
The problem with the young guys is that the fans are demanding immediate success……how can Wenger blood some of the youngsters?
We have some bloody good kids coming through, and whether people admit it or not,Wengers youth policy is starting to pay dividends.
Look at the age these kids joined the club….7,8 or 9 years old,yet fans are complaining about no trophies in 6 years…..do than math.
This club in five years time will be massive, and without the need to sell theory soul to get there.
I remain one very happy Gooner, because I can see past five minutes in the future.
We still need the service of Tom Rosisks for at least one season more because of experience he has will be source of morale and train to youngster like Ramsey,Mario Goetze and Hazard will be best replacement due to the skills they have but i doubt if Wenger will accept the price.
I think we should keep him for at least another year.. he’s getting better n better.. not to mention he did better than Arshavin or even Ramsey.. A very good back up player.. Look at how well he’s doing with his country recently.. he still has a lot to offer..
I wouldn’t speak too soon!
He seems to have a new spring in his step in this squad and has played very well for us so far this season, as well as being excellent for the Czechs.
I think he is a huge talent and he still has alot to offer us based on what i’ve seen from him recently.
Why do people champion the likes of ozyakup and chuks as the replacement. We need top quality talent like gotze.
The problem is that we will not pay the big money for such players
Lansbury for sure. If we are bringing someone in then shaquiri, the young Swiss left footer would be awesome….I think he’s Swiss!
Lansbury isn’t good enough for Arsenal to make it as a creative midfielder. He could play the Wilshere/Arteta, or perhaps even the Song role, but not assume the creative burden in a side looking to win the PL.
I think Goetze would be great. However getting Goetze will almost certainly mean the end of Arshavin, and then we would have effectively replaced Arshavin, not Rosicky. We need a squad player, not someone like Goetze who would want a first team place.
Although we could get Goetze, sell Arshavin (I hear there’s plenty of interest, and anything above 10m for him would be great), and then buy a squad member.
I’d like Tomas to stay, I think he’d make a good squad player and has been shown by our new signings, experience is vital. I think he can still play a part in the Arteta role when needed, though his days of being a force upfield are finished.
That said, regular football could tempt him away, as could a return to the Westfalenstadion…. (will never be Signal Iduna park!)
i like rosicky but i hope he gets shipped along with denilson, diaby, arshavin, benayoun and almunia in the summer.
these guys have been dead weight for most of their arsenal careers for whatever reason. we have hungry young players with big potential, and we’re wasting time keeping these old fogies hanging around.
dues this teenage retard mean `old fogies` like Maldini? di Stephano? and King Dennis? Or perhaps 34 years old olimpic sprint champion Linford Christie? What `no-nothing`burke.
No chance will our club pay the required money for Hazard or Gotze. No chance.
Wenger would rather try and develop someone like Chamberlain, for example, as a central playmaker.
Rosicky is a very average player who can do a half decent job as squad player. I’d prefer to replace him if he did left though as we need bodies. But of a good quality.
I don’t see the point in selling any players in Janaury as he never buys so we won’t get replacements.
Next summer I’d be happy to see Arshavin and Rosicky go if we replace.
However I don’t see us buying anyone of note unless it is out of sheer panic. We are deluding ourselves if we think otherwise
rosicki is as good as anyone over 45 min and will be a good impact player to have, who is he very average to, his age is prob not his standard of play
Bertie Mee flogged the `71 `double side`and relaced them with journeymen. We went 18 years without a title. Spurred by this managerial masterpiece,AW emulated Mee. He dumped the `Invinceables` en bloc and we are now at 6 years and counting into Mee`s footsteps. The experiance of many great players, more than offsets perceived weakness. Don`t lets throw out the baby with the bathwater this time.
Lansbury is a good hungry player and is good enough to be in our squad, the fact he has come through the ranks makes it all the better for me. Funny those slating our players who call themselves Gooners? Pathetic shite plastics. Rosicky has been ver y good, while Diaby, if he can get injury free as Rosicky has been largely, will be a top player for us.
Anyone calling him dead wood is clueless
DOoby my friend tell andrey to return to our planet and start performing like we know he can.For me he is a very talented player but lacks the drive, passion and effort required to be a success in the prem.Rosicky has been playing very well of late but we must go for a big talent like goetze or hazard as both aa23 and tr7 are heading for the exit door in the not to distant future. This club and all our superb, loyal and recent suffering followers deserve a club record super signing in january.Arsenal go get that big name and watch Rvp sign that dotted line, its that simple unlike us supporters who cant be fooled.Time to send a message to all of europe that arsenal recruit top notch talent at any cost.
Arsenal shoould keep Rosicky as he is back to his best judging by the his last few perfomances.Whats the point of releasing Rosicky who is performing and keeping Diaby who gets an injury after every practice seesion and a suspension the moment he comes back…Rosicky to me is good enough for two more seasons
