It is hard to imagine that in seven days time the first game of the new season will have taken place. There is a remarkably strange feeling about at the moment.
Possibly that feeling is down to Arsenal looking no better than at the tail end of last season and there being only minute changes in the playing staff. What is worrying though is that Arsenal look undercooked, unprepared and ready for a continuation of what has been a disgusting run of form for most of 2011.
We are lacking the ‘it’ factor, I don’t sense any ambition, any drive – either from the playing staff up to the owner, Stan Kroenke. Complacency seems to be a theme that crops up quite option, and this has led to stagnation and us having to play catch up once again.
Samir Nasri and Cesc seem to have lost a little faith, both jumping at any chance of getting out of the club and is the manager, who has many a past glory but nothing recently to brag about, starting to lose the players who live in the ‘now’ and not the past?
Who is coming up with Arsenal’s transfer targets? Who is trying to secure those targets? Why have we been so utterly hapless when it comes to getting players to join?
And why oh why has it been left so late?
For a manager who was so revolutionary to the English game when he arrived, he is now starting to seem dated, stubborn and stuck rigidly in his own ways. Those ways need to chance. The defence needs to be addressed and the possibility of losing both Vela and Bendtner must mean he is looking to strengthen the strikeforce with more than just Joel Campbell.
A week can be a long time in football. Lets hope that this is one of those cases.

Arsenal News 24/7

A lot of Arsenal supporters share your opinion and I think that’s the real reason why the team may not do well. Players feed off of fans, and these days Arsenal supporters are a bunch of whinging, negative bores. It’s interesting to note that our away record was great in comparison to our home record last year. I wonder if the supporters had anything to do with that.
totally agre with your writing, wenger is dated and the board have shown with kroenke at the healm they do not want to be successful, as long as there pockets are lined for kroenke and co that is all that matters, when you get rid of players you ned to be lining up players who are just as good, to date nobody !! first of all wenger the idiot has known like the rest of us the defense is non existent his purchases in this area is a disgrace look at squllachi, send him back to where he came from then eboue, then all you hear is the idiot say how good these players are sorry but millions of people will disagree, our team is weak it has no depth yet wenger keep his philosophy of trust him for six years we trusted this idiot not any more, our midfield is depleted and our forward line is also weak stop the stupid kids there needs to be a balance wenger your philosphy does not work we are fed up of the bull shit, again as last season everytime we get a goal we conceed and lose and again he is full of excuses, this board need to go as well as wenger this is a disgrace you taking a club we love backwards and to the verge of relegation
Raising ticket prices to pay and watch mediocre players (squillachi, eboue, denilson, vela, rosicky, diaby, chamakh, bendtner) is hardly going to get the fans excited.
Manager must go.
Too old
Too slow
Too stubborn
Nothing to do with Wenger, the players, lack of investment and poor tactics then jrock! oh of course it was the fans all along….twat!
Jrock
Yeah blame the supporters for the absolute shambles that Wenger and the board have made us into. There is only so much people can take before they get angry and Arsenal fans have acually been very patient over the past 6 years.
The problem comes when the manager in May says he will address the problems and then this turns out to be a complete lie 2 months later.
Surley the club had some PR people who would have re-cognised the unrest amongst the support and knnew to go out and get the players required. I actually find it staggering that they have let the negative feeling build up so much. Shows that the board actually doesn’t care what we as supporters think.
If we make a bad start Wenger will have to deal with thge reaction – he brought it on himself.
We need to sign quality English players..need more englishnes in our squad..when I see chris snapping n jones playing for Manchester utd n knowin that once they were our transfer targets..whose fault was it?
Hope we sort it out soon..before it’s too late..
*Meant chris smalling
Agreed but a bit of give and take wouldn’t go a miss.
Wenger is stubborn not from today, it’s been like that for years. Problem is that 3 years ago he completely lost the plot and we are paying the price. He got way too much credit from the fans and the board, and would have been sacked already in any other club. Time for a new Manager, WENGER OUT!
I have a ST and will never boo the side. I reserve the right to moan like hell though when we play in such a lack lustre fashio and take no responsibility nor learn lessons from continually making the same mistakes. And then we are asked to pay more because we need to compete in the transfer market??
It is an absolute joke. Is there any wonder that the Liverpool game has been on sale a week and plenty of tickets still available? Not when it is £70+ per ticket. People will just not pay that for a product that has rapidly declined as prices have risen.
I’ll still go to every game as I am an addict. I’ll cheer the boys on no end. But don’t ask me not to moan when at times they don’t give a toss. I’ll never ever boo though
Jrock I think your right but it’s a chicken and egg situation isn’t it really. Fans are fed up of being deceived by the manager and the board. You can’t charge the highest prices in the league and then increase them with no realistic possibility of a return. Some people are just impatient but I think the majority are fed up with being lied to. We are not stupid and we don’t want an abramovich spending spree just for us to get what we need and Arsene and the board don’t seem capable.
Gooner Sam. I agree with you.
We were fine that times were hard and that we did not send beyond means in order to pay off stadium and get rid of the flats.
Now we get told there are funds to compete with even Chelsea (Wengers words). Yet absolutely nothing has happened to strenghten the area that Wenger even told us he would sort.
Again these are not things only fans have talked about. The manager has publicly said the defense wasn’t good enough and would rectify. He has sold our most experienced defender thus far and signed a League 2 19 year old. Nothing against young Carl, but we needed a top class partner for Vermaelen.
I’m convinced that there is no replacement for Cesc when he is sold. £35m in the back pocket and we will be told Wilsere and Ramsey will cover. I like thee two, but you can not keep chucking kids into the team expecting them to pick up from a world class player.
I will bet that Josh Mceacran will have more trophies than Wilshere and Ramsey becuase he will be integrated properly into a swuad of experience. That is how youngsters should be blooded. Not in a sink or swin situation but around experienced players that can guide you through. You can actually learn your trade.
It won’t take long for Jack and Aaron to get pissed off with this failed policy.
Disgraceful, absolutely disgraceful, I for one am so so so ashamed of the way this man has FUCKED with the transfer system for so long, what the fuck is he going to sign this Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for 12 mil (my god 12mil) we as arsenal are fucked if he don’t get established players fuck the future for now an work on getting a team together that half the players don’t want to play for us and to be quite honest I don’t blame them. We are done.
Jrock so its all the fans fault why our clueless manager hasnt bought a CB.Thats a classic. It was the fans fault we bought Squillaci as well.Bad Bad supporters. The AKB’s will never admit Wenger is wrong when all the evidence says he is
Out: Vermaelen, Squillaci, Djourou, Fabregas, Nasri, Vela (if Miyaichi gets a work permit), Almunia, Bartender, Chamakh.
In: Sakho, Samba, Mertesacker, Javi Martinez, Fellaini, Papiss Cisse, Chamberlain.
Szczesny
Sagna Sakho Samba Gibbs
Fellaini Wilshere Martinez
Walcott RvP Gervinho
Subs: Arshavin, Fabianski, Cisse, Lansbury/Diaby, Ramsey/Rosicky, Mertesacker, Jenkinson.
Until we Gooners have a place either on the Arsenal Board OR a job on Wenger’s transfer negotiating staff, we should await the end of the Window with patience….however frustrating that will be.
During the transfer period, Wenger will have been confronted with Clubs who won’t sell, Clubs who will sell but at an inflated price, Clubs who will sell at a fair price but the targeted player won’t move…….the permutations are endless.
And all the time, with endless wheeling and dealing behind the scenes, Wenger and his staff are working desperately behind schedule to bring new blood to the Club before the closure of the Window.
The saving grace is, of course, that Wenger will in no way be affected by the massed advice and moaning being cast his way in the media and by ill-informed Gooners all over the world.
For this reason we should calm down, trust the Club’s paid servants to do their job and await the 31st August before expressing our opinions…..we really have no other choice.
George_D….Stick to Football Manager, and spare us that fantasy football trasfer nonsense.
Like others I have had enough of the club saying one thing and doing another. The same issues have plagued us for many years now and the club have done nothing to sort them out.
How many times have we heard Ivan/Arsene say we will be active or sign experience? This summer I actually believed them when they said it, but theres still time for some good players to be signed. David Dein said today that Arsene is still looking at signing 2-3 players, so we need to be patient. Sure it would be better if we had signed some players earlier in the summer, but we obviously missed out on Jones and the Nasri/Fabregas sagas have probably caused Arsene all sorts of problems. I seriously cannot believe that the club are backing Arsene with Nasri when we could get 22m for a player that could sign a deal with Manchester City in the new year and see us with a half commited player and no fee to sign a replacement.
We have a very tough start to the season and if we go into september after some poor results and a lack of quality signings then Arsene will have a very hard time keeping his job, because as we saw at the Emirates cup, the fans have had enough.
He has my backing for now, but it’s time for him to ‘send out a message’ by signing players of real quality.
“I’m convinced that there is no replacement for Cesc when he is sold. £35m in the back pocket and we will be told Wilsere and Ramsey will cover.”
What? Was Cesc brought in as a 35 million pound purchase? Or was he a kid from Barcelona’s youth team who cost less than Adebayor, Toure and Clichy make in one week?
Some folks have no prespective!
Yes, Wilshere and Ramsey could be enough. It depends on how the team is crafted and who the other players are. Mind you we do have Arshavin and Rosicky who are experienced playmakers as well. Arshavin in Particular had as many assists at Cesc did (11 assists for 3rd highest in the premiership) despite limited playing time.
What’s more important than buying another playmaker is more speed and scoring power up front (Gervinho) and a central defender.
And you totally underrate the impact Frimpong is about to have – I tip him to have as much real impact on the team as Wlshere did. This means also that Song will be better – as that is what it will take to keep his place. We could end up with Song + Frinpong anchoring the midfield and Wilshere as forward midfielder.
So as long as we get than one strong defender, I could care less if fabregas goes back home to eat paella and we dont buy a playmaker. We have too many of those already actually!
After watching Utd today, well… I feel we are leagues behind. They look a much better team than last year. Last year they were a team who defended resolutely and took their chances on the counter. But this season they have at least one replacement for every position. Frankly, with the squad we have got we cant compete with Utd, City or Chelsea.
I have never been in favor of spending money, but this time we need it else we will no longer be in the competition.
Gonnertank, completely agree, the reason that the last two years we have got towards the end of the season is because the younger players don’t have the more experienced winners to help them keep their heads. I’m all for having exciting youngsters integrated into theam but there is no balance at Arsenal. The other thing is that the younger buys (im thinking Nasri here) clearly they get paid to much without having earnt it yet and so when money bags citeh come along they do what comes naturally. I know we as fans don’t see everything that goes on in the club but at the moment our performances and our results are confirming our fears.
George D have you had a drink ?
Nicky I see what your saying but trust has to earned and if we look at the past few seasons Wenger / the board have failed to address our problems, they just keep happening again and again. If we were winning things would Nasri and Ceac be so keen to live, perhaps not.
“Players feed off of fans, and these days Arsenal supporters are a bunch of whinging, negative bores.”
What an arsehole. Footballers are supposed to entertain US!! That’s why they’re paid £50k a week, while we sit in a stand eating shitty £4 burgers.
Look at these morons who think we can win the title with wilshere, ramsey and song. haha. they’re crap. they’ve proved nothing. three midgets who couldn’t tackle their dinner. frimpong!!? hahahhhahah
So here’s a story…
Arsene Wenger has a fine car and goes to the petrol station the other day and is surprised by the price of petrol. He cannot believe that people will be stupid enough to pay the prices, but they do. In and out they drive filling up their cars as they need them to be running smoothly.
Wenger argues with the petrol pump manager who tries to explain that that is how much petrol costs nowadays. Refusing to accept this Wenger takes his car, and drives away until it eventually runs out of petrol.
And there it stays by the side of the road, whilst poorer but better run machines pass him by…
Just a story mind….
yawn
Guys… I dont understand what Wenger thinks… every year same old stories… We are told that players will be bought. God knows why dose it takes so much time to do so… Every club in the world the players they want except us.. Same old excuse the price is too inflated or their arent good players in the market.. then how the hell Spurs managed to sign Van der Vaart for mere 9m or how Roma purchased Stakalenberg for just 6m.. Its just about being active in a market rather then Sleeping the whole time.. God knows when their Sleep will get over and till when Wenger will just enjoy the legacy of his past???….
George D stop playing Championship Manager.
For those of you who want to mourn I can say only one thing ” I PITY YOU PEOPLE “.
As far as I am concerned we have already made 4 signings thats how I see things, these 4 are like totally new signings?.
RAMSAY played 3 or 4 games last season. Let us have a hypothetical question if Ramsay were available in the market along with Jordan Henderson who do you like to buy ?
FRIMPONG is built like a dynamite, has got necessary quality to cover for Song, is aggressive, plays with spirit and wants to play for Arsenal.
We all wanted a center back and we have got VERMAELAN back who played around 5 or 6 games last season. Its like he didn’t play for us at all in 2010-11
GERVINHO can play anywhere in the front three.
People always seem to think that we should always spend to strenghthen the squad, why can’t they use some common sense and see that these 4 people almost never played ( 2 of them – Gervinho and Frimpong infact never played ) for us last season ? and that they are like truly new signings
If Fabregas and Nasri go then I am sure that there would be replacements for them, infact you can already count Gervinho as Nasri’s replacement
we would buy a center back soon. So I am cool and confident eagerly waiting for August 13 to thrash the Geordies who are set to lose Enrique with Nolan already gone and Barton unsettled
Look, lets have some perspective here…
Which players have we missed out on and are available?
Cahill – is he really worth the 20+ million they want? He was a good defender last year, but was he really better than either Kocielny or Vermaelen. No one spends that much on a 3rd choice defender.
Phil Jones – yes, we missed out on him, but he chose Man Utd instead. Not really anything you can do about that.
Jagielka – 18 million for a 29 year old? So, you’ll want to sell Nasri for 20 and buy Jagielka for 18 million. That does not make much sense.
Mata – yes, he looks like a good player and for a winger, the price looks reasonable. Its clear we want him, but the question is whether he wants to come to us.
Apart from these ones, there are not really any other players available at the moment. At least, no players that we have heard of before.
Sam
Do not get carried away with the Frimpong hype. He gets caught on the ball way too often and gives away many free kicks.
He needs a loan for at least one full season before we could look at integrating him.
I do n’t think my opinion counts any more. Dare I say the manager knows best(chuckles!)
arsenal is still flat broke!
it is the only explanation.
heard about nasri’s bust up with wenger?
i’m annoyed with wenger about the state of the team, but if nasri has shown him any disrespect i want that little fucker out of my club now.
henry always thought nasri was a little shit. enough said.
i agree with the above comments up to a point..but take a more in-depth view of the points raised. We play and fare better away because our style of play suits teams attacking us rather than sitting back and aimimg a long ball at our joke defebse.
Booing is a matter of choice…some believe the only way of getting through to the management is to boo…not nice but arguably valid. The nasri and wemger dispute is obvious..he wants to leave because he knows the policy is not to buy quality players that cost too much. I like nasri, he is honest and you sense he wont say or do anything he doesnt believe in…he knows wenger is full of bullshit. cesc loyalty to arsenal has expired and he wants a career in a winning team and not with losers like squillacci and co.
The club is falling apart…forget about success..its money and profit that are the only considerations
I’ve just seen on skyports news that Sneijder is apparently for sale at the right price. Given that Fabregas is off, and we already have money, plus the Fabregas funds, why are we not even being linked with him? Arsenal should show some intent, which they DO have the financial power to do, and sign him as Fabregas’ replacement now. I’d swap Fabregas for him now in a heart beat. Infact, i’d be f**king delighted.
sick to my teeth with the excuse that this lad or that are like new signings because they didnt play last season (bollocks). buy defenders an get rid of fab an nas for whatever u can get, take the hands off em. they’re a rot eatin its way through arsenal itself(fuck nas and all the best fab)
What’s going on is that the club is struggling to keep it’s best players & looks like its struggling to convince ” quality”, let alone “super quality” players to join.
Fast forward to January…Song, Frimpong & Gervinho
are likely to be away at the Africa cup of Nations; Nasri &/or Fabregas will be long gone & we’ll have our usual (longer than any one else) list of injuries. At this stage of the season we’ll all be very thankfull if Bendtner & Eboue are still around.
Ultimately the Board’s reticence towards questioning Arsene Wenger’s results over these barren years has created a structural acceptance of failure within the football club. Clearly for a World Cup winner like Cesc this is unacceptable and a key element of his apparent desperation to leave. Nasri suffers delusions of grandeur, however his performance during the first half of last season perhaps warrants his perception of himself as a big-time player and similarly he seeks pastures new where winning is more important than taking part. It is so unfortunate that a club with solid ethical and business values and relatively recent success seems to have forgotten that unabated failure has a habit of becoming endemic. As painful as it is to say as a fan, it is therefore unsurprising that other big-time players are rejecting Arsene and Arsenal’s overtures.
For me though, the playing personnel is immaterial. It does not matter who pulls on the
jersey when the real problem is the style of football. It is ineffective and no longer revolutionary. It is far too easy to defend a ball moving from side to side incessantly and opposing defenders are comfortable in the knowledge that nobody wearing the red and white will shoot from 20 yards out. I watched Manchester United reverse a 2 goal deficit against Citeh today and I don’t think anybody could argue that they have more natural talent than Arsenal, yet they are incredibly effective and prove time and time again they can beat defensively resolute teams. Point of fact…only the manager can strategise on the pitch and only he can train the players at his disposal to play effectively.
Arsenal can change their players as much as they want but it simply won’t help…they need to change their style and attitude to failure pronto or risk tarnishing their heritage.
Come on, Arsenal show some real b***s and flog fabregas for 40m and go ahead and buy sneidjer for 40m if you really want the title….now that is a real statement for our rivals and the whole world
Arsenal has mediocrity written all over it. Watching United today was painfully. There is a buzz about united. That club is ready for this coming season and the next ten. What in the world is going on at Arsenal. Kroenke is treating this club as another investment and is clearly only interested in the dividend check that he is getting. Fans should demand change, from the ownership, through, the board and the playing staff. Arsenal is rotten and everyone is holding their noses. Cesc and Nasri love the club, but can not stand the the stench about the place. I can not either and all true Arsenal fans should express their displeasure whenever given the chance: in the stadium, call in programs, blogs, etc. This is our club, we should not fold our arms and hope for the best. We should demand changes accross the board NOW!
Never as a Gooner have we had so many fans dreading for the season to start. I, for one, wished that the new season is ALREADY OVER! And with Arsenal securing 4th spot! That is as good as an expectation it has comes down to for Arsenal. I absolutely dread to be dragged throughout this new season watching the once great club bombed itself into total oblivion. Absolutely no chance at the title. But with a sheer piece of luck maybe we can win a domestic cup like Birmingham did. Arsenal is the shams and it will start this season finally and totally. We’re like a slow-tracked Leeds. Anyone knows the song “Killing me softly”?
I am disappointed. Latest report suggests at least 8-9 first team players are injured, including vermalaen, gibbs, rvp, wilshere. With Fabregas and Nasri on the way to exit, we are on the verge of disaster and the season hasn’t even started yet.
I don’t think just signing one CB will do. We need a mid fielder of class, pacy wingers and another CB of solid build. Yes i understand that bringing in many new faces will upset the beautiful football rhythm we play, but with no fabregas and nasri, its just plain dumb we hang on to that policy at least until we stabilize. Urgent requirement is we build our back 4 with solid concrete reinforcement and a gutsy sensible gkeeper. Once this is done and the partnership looks good, automatically things will happen up front, with the players up front having more confidence with the back four and not having to lend their help defensively as before.
Nice article……..
This is the season Arsenal will slip from first 4. This is the season Arsenal will be a disaster.
This is the season AW is going to leave or Sacked(Still doubt).
Arsenal is not going to win anything under wenger and this management in near future for sure.
But still i m so worried, why this great club not showing any ambition ??? Soooo sad in that….
Arsenal FC and their fans are joke in front of others.
“Does anyone know what is actually going on”?
Yeah!, I guess so, they`re just not telling us…`bastards`!lol
i no wots going on fab n nasri will b sold 31th august 1st of sept hill wood will cum out and say we av funds 4 new players in jan feb 1st wenger will say the right player aint available in mid season we will buy in summer summer arrives oh dear world cup we cant speak 2 players we want no champs league van persie wilshire will b sold cos of financal n hillwood n silent stan will pocket a big lump of money again n wenger will get a piece of the action 4 his retirement fund
“Your comment is awaiting moderation”. whats this either put it up or dont, by the time u do every1 will have had their say and wont see mine. cheer
George D!!! Really???? I will much rather stick with what we have than even contimplate your line up thank you very much! My god man. How can you bitch and moan about what we have and then suggest selling a couple of our best players and replace them with average?? Wake up!
our mid fiel 3 should be fab de rossi and wilsahre
our forward 3 should be mata rvp gerviniho
our def should be kozzer samba endrique sagna
goliee schezny
now that means 4 new players: de rossi, mata endrique and samba.
i dont know how much dey would cost but these players are the minimum we need to win sumthing.
we can get rid of diaby, song(part exchange deal for rossi), chamak, squillachi, almunia and nasri.
our mids: de rossi, wilsahre, fab, ramsay, frimpong and rosicky thats 6 mids fight for a spot in a 3 man midfield
wingers: walcott, mata, gerviniho, gibbs, vela
wing backs:endrique, traore, sagna and jenkinson
cbs: samba, kozzer, vermy, djouru.
goliee:scehzny and fabianski
if we are not gona buy a striker then no waayz will i sell nikki b chamka is not arsenal level.
the 3 strikers i wouls keep are RVP, nikki b and afobe
I am afraid are we going a centerback this season or not.We have preseason matches going not so comfortable. We won in Thailand,Draw in China, draw in both the matches at Emirates Cup and loss to Benfica. We have two of our best players Cesc and Samir wanting to leave.Where are we heading. And again injury crisis at the start of the season. We can’t put the season on line saying we had injuries to our main players, we need to have able backups. If can’t afford to loose Vermalean to injury this season as we do not have no nonsense defender in our line-up.I am sorry to say but i do not see Wenger briging in one before the start.
I really fear whether we will be playing champios league next season. We have younger players and they want to leave once they gain the needed experience at Emirates. No one wants to stay and win something for the club which has given them so much exposure.I beleive it’s time to sign some players who wants to win and has that charisma to getting the other players along.
have to agree with Trennon!!
some of ur “signings”George D are ok-but getting rid of Tommy???i mean seriously.still tonnes of time yet. get behind the team and suck it up. not over til end of august-ok our season could be.lo but you know what i mean. but still Gooners!!!! make the Emirates the fortress Highbury was. If teams see us booing our own players and management then thats half the battle won for them already. show some f*cking spirit and get behind them.
Do we have any money to spend? because the recent story is that we could sign 4 players for £5 million less than what we want for Fabregas and according to newspapers he is off and them 4 players are coming in and the Gervinho signing only was announced after selling Clichy. How much money do we have to spend at the club? Are we trying to get rid and then buy? Where is all this money from Mr Kroenke? I don’t believe in coincidence, where is the fucking money? We have been linked and people have actually said that Arsenal have made contact but no formal bid has been made. Is that we currently have nothing to spend and have to sell before we buy.
I hope the “In Arsene We Trust” group of gunners’ fans have followed the team’s performances during the off-season build-up matches. With a comical central defence ‘boasting’ Sebastien Squillachi, Laurent Kocielny and Johan Djourou this Arsenal squad will NOT win even a plastic mug. Even the “cooked-up” Emirates trophy (tournament) Arsenal have been winning has just been taken by Thierry Henry’s New York Red Bulls. With the transfer window closing in less than three weeks, Arsene Wenger and his Board say they are “working hard on player transfers behind the scenes”. What a sickening pack of liars!
In pre-season our first team have not let in a goal, and they have scored about 10.
They have been better than any other team in pre-season.
We have a better team than last year even without any signings.
And still the moaners are not satisfied.
Nobody knows whats happening, I just heard we got a medical for Chamberlain the deal will cost us 12 million. Another winger to go with Arshavin, Gervinho, Walcott and Nasri, he wont even start this season yet we spend that much on him.
We need solid battlers who can play a bit, I just heard the Spuds are closing in on Lass Diarra, why cant we go for him god knows he would be perfect for us, first time around he was good everytime he played but Flamini and Fab was unbreakable, he is 26 now and would be perfect.
Anyone familiar with Arsene’s way will know that details of a completed transfer will only be released once the ink is dry on the contract. How many times in recent years have arsenal been gazumped by big spending teams. I am sure that money will be spent on new recruits but as ever there will probably be a deadline day signing. The watchword is patience.
I stand by Arsene!
Every year, doom and gloom predictions about how Arsenal will not qualify for Champions league is paraded.
Every year, Arsenal qualifies! Fact is, it is the exact opposite that frustrates fans, faulting at the last hurdle. Therefore, to start crying foul before the season has even started, as every other season, that Arsenal will not qualify for the Champs league is getting old.
When the club finally pays the stadium off in full, and starts to profit from the sales of its shirts, there will be more money available! If not, then questions need asking.
In the last few years, clubs like Man City have been buying big and buying now. Tottenham/Liverpool always splash large sums of money, have they won their worth in spending, I do not think so! Have they guaranteed themselves Champions league football, no! Spending like a child in a candy store for these clubs has not guaranteed success.
Arsenal is run in an ethical way, a streamlined model of a football club and business that is the envy of many clubs around the world. A person would be a fool to want to change this. Arsene will not break his wage structure for anyone player or member of his coaching staff. The man has his house in order. What he has done and doing is immense! And I do not just say this in pure admiration. Let’s look at fact!(sounds of benitez)
By sticking to his wage structure and tight budget, he faces enormous pressures. Yet he stays committed to the cause! He has the pressures of having to contend with big spending clubs who are buying top rated to world-class players every year like they are cheap as chips.
Every year, he knows that Arsenal financially need champions league football, and every year they qualify and do better than expected. Every year, he sticks to his philosophy of playing beautiful football to entertain the fans. And every year he constantly delivers this and he still achieves the fundamental objectives to keep the club on course to be hugely successful in the future and Financially Powerful.
When moving to the new stadium, Arsene clearly pointed out the objectives, stadium aside, and the other project was the young squad, tied into the debt of the move, and he had no choice but to rely on them!
Last year, was a spectacular fail for trophies, considering they were in the hunt for all four trophies. But tell me, with everything Arsene has had to contend with, Arsenal still achieve above and beyond what everyone expected. Arsene was offered to take over at Real Madrid, yet he stayed to see the project through! Just think about it. Compare his loyalty to the fickle loyalties of the overpaid brats.
Carlos Tevez is earning how much but cries about going home like a Schoolgirl only because now he can afford early retirement, and Ad-Ebay-Yoh(yoh…yoh) has been reduced to a gypsy! So when fans and pundits shout buy him buy him.. what’s to say we not gona have these problems all over again.
Arsene Wenger is leading the way like a father, with morals and loyalty and tries to instil this in his young generation of players. This will hopefully foster a love and affection between them and the very club that gave them their success. This is something special.
The signing of Alex Chamberlain is fantastic! It was only a few months ago, many fans thought we lost his signature to Man United, which left fans fuming. Things that were said “how come we are so bad at singing players” and “our rivals are always beating us to sign quality players”, I also heard that “we do all the scouting for great talent and then notify our rivals and let them sign our targets”.
Now that Arsene has signed this player, beaten our rivals, these same fans are now saying, “well we did not need him”.
Bah… humbug, temperamental like a woman on her periods! You are haemorrhaging nonsense!
Ok fans want trophies. I know I do! But if you take a step back and look at the whole picture, would a man who does not care about the club, put himself under so much pressure.
Yes the Chavs have spent loads of money and won trophies, “SINCE ROMAN STARTED HIS EMPIRE”. BUT what happens when that empire comes crashing down or decides to walk out? Fact is Arsenal cannot spend like Chelsea. If fans still do not understand why Arsenal cannot spend like Chelsea or Man City/Utd, I must assume they have the IQ of a cabbage!!
Arsene Wenger has his heart rooted to the core of the club and people who criticise him for not spending big money, to put it simply, do not care about the club or its ethos. How can a person who has never had to pay for something, understand its true value, kinda like a friend who says he cannot afford an mp3 player so borrows your brand new expensive iPod and returns it broken and then asks so which one you buying next? These are the type of people, who want Arsenal to spend big and now! (I hope that made sense)
To play beautiful football, to put so much faith and trust in this group of players, to play with so much financial constraint, to move to a new stadium, all of which would put massive amounts of pressure on any manager, have left him seemingly in a position of appearing to have failed due to the lack of trophies. Yet he has achieved more for this club, which many other managers wouldn’t even dream to attempt with more money at their disposal. He puts himself into the spotlight so that other do not have to. His job appears to be on the line as fans grow disgruntled, and still he will not break budget or wage structure even to save his job. This is a man who cares about the club. – Or he’s just nuts.
