That is a rumour I like to hear: Parker to Arsenal

This morning there are rumours flying around suggesting Scott Parker is the subject of big interest from Arsenal. There are tons of names flying about right now but the main attribute that would make this deal one to get very excited about is the attitude of the player, he is a battler – a doer – not an excuse maker like so many players in this team.

Age is not on his side, nor is his injury record but sometimes risks have to be taken. For so long we have wanted more experience to be added to this side along with quality, here is a player with both of those attributes and no matter what he costs I think we would be better off with him on board. Another leader can only be a good thing surely? Parker is probably the finest tackler of a football in the league, and hell, Alex Song could do with a bit of guidance in that respect.

Last night Arsenal had a whole table at the football writers awards dinner for Scott Parker. Spurs, who are also interested, and West Ham didn’t. A hint maybe? Interesting nonetheless.

From the encouraging to the discouraging – John Cross writes in todays Daily Mirror that Arsenal are interested in bringing in Lorient midfielder Morgan Amalfitano on a free transfer, now I don’t know how likely this is but it would certainly be a bit uninspiring – the link to Kevin Gameiro however is one that does excite me, but I do think he will be heading to Spain and not the Premier League. He has the pace we desperately miss up front.

It seems that we may have Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri back for the final home game of the season against Aston Villa on Sunday – those talking as it if might be the last time we see them in the red and white are being very over-dramatic and whilst Cesc may be off (I am confident he will stay), Samir Nasri has provisionally agreed a five year deal that just has to be signed. It is due to happen before he jets off on holiday.

Seeing the players back will be a boost but I am expecting a pretty ininspired crowd all the same, we have a habit of making our last home game an entertaining one though so lets just hope we see plenty of goals and leave the place on a high this season. We have beaten Barca, United and Chelsea at home, yet we have been very disappointing there all together – I think that says a lot.

Marouane Chamakh speaks… I don’t like the excuse making but he talks of how the training regime KO’d him completely.

Right, and that is about it. Happy speculating.
