A massive night at the Emirates

We don’t care if it is only the Carling Cup. We don’t care that it is ‘only’ Ipswich.

It is a chance to play at Wembley and win ourselves a trophy, any trophy apart from the damn Emirates Cup! We haven’t seen anything silver for five years and its time to put a stop to that before it reaches six. Barcelona went six years without a trophy before their current glut of success. We want to do the same, only with more class than that mob.

Now isn’t the time for Arsene Wenger to gamble and play a half-cut line-up. There is a chance to rest players at the weekend so play the team that played at Wigan for 60 minutes and get the game over with. That isn’t being cocky, its just how good that starting eleven are playing right now.

You can just sense that the team want this trophy, they know the benefits of winning it and announcing that Arsenal are big time contenders this season – for once people are starting to say its between us and United like the good old days. I don’t think Chelsea are out the race by a long shot but how great is it to be taken seriously again? There will be accusations that we have had it easy in the Carling Cup thus far but we went to Spurs and won there, went to Newcastle and won there and both times progressed pretty comprehensively. We are there on merit. There will never be a better chance to win something and for Arsene to win a trophy he hasn’t done before.

It isn’t ‘only Ipswich’ tonight, it is a semi-final with a final at Wembley and a trophy to compete for. We are one goal down, lets turn it around and have an early trip to Wembley. It is the first of potentially at least three trips this season.

Nights like this could make the Emirates really feel like it is ours, a little bit of history can go a long way. Get into the ground early tonight and make some noise. Ipswich won’t have played in many 60,000 stadiums in their time so lets make it intimidating.

Come on Arsenal.
