A few little bits of news for you on this quiet Saturday morning, like I said yesterday there isn’t really anything interesting going around news-wise at the moment. Then again, on the pitch things are looking very good.
Andrey Arshavin’s contract situation has been worrying a few people, just a few weeks ago I wrote about how a new contract was very close to being signed but ultimately the talks fell down. Why this happened is still unclear.
On Wednesday the Daily Mail reported that Arshavin was going to be offered a new contract with a £10,000 a week pay-rise, totalling at £80,000 a week. However, Arshavin already earns this amount per week. The Mail article also claimed that Dennis Lachter is still his agent when Andrey has stated multiple times he no longer has any formal association with him.
Yesterday it was made known to me that talks are due to resume in December and a positive outcome is expected after Arshavin has apparently made it known he wants to stay for another season at least. Now, I can’t 100% stake my life on that last bit, don’t hold me to it. I am though confident he will sign a new deal.
Jack Wilshere and Wojiech Szczesny are set to be handed a nice rise to their pay-packet, the boss said in his press conference yesterday that Szczesny has “expressed a desire to stay” and a contract will be sorted shortly. On Jack Wilshere, it is currently being reported that he will sign a five year deal for £50,000 a week. A humongous amount of money. I’d bet that its going to be an incremental contract but I suppose we will never know the full details.
Looking ahead to this afternoons game against West Ham, I think it will be a big test. Not in quality on the pitch but in attitude, there is no room for another West Brom result and there can be no complacency at all because it will be instantly punished. It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see exactly the same starting eleven as we did at City and everybody in the team will deserve their place, and that is despite the goals from Theo and Bendtner midweek.
We should win this game comfortably, but this is Arsenal we are talking about… Lets keep the good run going.
If you fancy putting a few quid on the game, be aware of the offer currently in place with Paddy Power who will give you a £20 free bet when you stake £10. In the near future I should be able to offer you exclusive betting deals, better odds etc. You will only find these on thegoonblog.com.
A final word on my, what turned out to be, controversial thoughts on Robin van Persie yesterday: I fully believe that van Persie is an exceptional player when fit… he is just hardly ever available. My point was, how can he just walk back into the side when we have an effective Chamakh, much improved and fit Bendtner, and the guy who has six goals this season – despite being injured for a month and a half – in Theo Walcott? He can’t.
I have nothing at all against van Persie.
Right, Arsenal have a game to go and win.
Til tomorrow.

I hope he stays as he is top notch quality.hes a player even when people say he was quiet today i bet he still played a defence splitting pass resulting in a goal.andrey as i think i mentioned before, raised the bar very high after arriving with the goals at anfield and old trafford and fans expect magic all the time.i personally think hes done very well so far this season and hope he has an extended stay in n.london.hes a pleasant wee chap also and has not been as vocal about running us down,if all that was to be believed anyway.i would be very surprised if this guy was moved a long as he has lots to offer this club, starting today v west ham.i think though rosicky is playing his last season with us and as much as it will be sad to see him go i think its best for the club,i dont rate him like i once did and other talented young ones can fill in or be bought by the club.what about this jet chap for us,how good is he?im always hearing about this guy being really good, can anyone help me out here, whats his favourite position is it midfield or up front?thanks.
I hope he does because he is very valuable to the team. I am hoping that Koscielny partners Squillaci at the center back today, not that Djourou is not good enough but because he is still adapting to the premiership and needs as many games as possible before we face the next series of tough games away such as villa, everton , united.
providing they are fit i think he will go sagna, clichy, koscielny, djourou.but i see your point, any new arrival needs games under their belt to help adapt to the league and a very tough league at that.he might be a decent defender this squillaci man because im not really aware much of him when he plays, tell me is he a ghost defender?what im saying is your always aware of the bad ones like senderos, stepanovs, vivas, silvestre because they always give you bad reasons as to why you should discuss them, loads of mistakes.arsene has recruited some cheap duds over the years defensively.what about chesny in goal today i have a feeling le boss might spring a wee surprise there,im probably wrong though.nice wee draw there in the quarters of carling.i bet dollar is glad we avoided the so called big guns of old trafford, bring them tramps on any time, they are sinking ship and we are on our way to dominance, mind you he probably fears the wigan big guns also.5.0 home win today, hammers to get nailed bigtime.
Song at the death!
I had a tenner on our match winner today at 20 to 1.thank god we won and i never care who gets the goal, the money to me is just a small bonus as us winning is way, way, way more important.hes always worth a few quid though because he goes forward a lot.i believe theo made big difference when he came on,why do we rarely score early in games as it would really take pressure off,any way it wasnt our best display today but im proud of yous lads for fighting to the whistle and getting result we needed and deserved.
Song now offers the uncertainty factor to the opposition, who may scheme and plot against the usual pass, pass, and pass to score plot. There is very little fluke about his goals this season. He wanted to score and heightened his game near the box whenever possible. What a self-motivated guy, hope to see more of his involvements when things go against the normal flow.
Ar$havin will go to Barca’ in the summer, give him a new contract in the mean time and raise his value.
Oziam andrey arshavin wont be going to barcelona, absolutely no chance of that.i dont think hes on there radar for new recruitments, besides is he good enough for them i ask?,he is not consistent enough for my liking in an arsenal shirt but still quality because he can change a game in a heart beat.maybe your right and barca will sign him but i would say i cant see that one happening.i.affelay more likely to be on his way to those catalan wankers and that would mean the little russian isnt heading that way.arsenal will be is last top notch club hes getting on a bit and after its back to russia i bet.
Whats up with Denilson? Gives the ball away 50% of the time now!
He always does, OZIAM.. he fights to get it back too.
