Things aren’t as bad as people think

Injuries are always going to happen, but I’d much rather they happen now than a few months down the line.

If we are lucky Theo will just miss this weekends game against Bolton at home which is no real biggie, Robin van Persie will be missing for Bolton, Braga, Sunderland, Spurs, West Brom, Belgrade, Chelsea and Birmingham – the majority of them we can survive without him. There are a couple of big games there but it really could have been worse.

Its time to completely discount van Persie from being a regular because it is something he will never be, is is his physiology or just the Arsenal medical staff? It is a question that will probably never be answered but it is so frustrating to see such a gifted player permanently injured – its similar to the situation of Ledley King at Spurs, only van Persie is on another level when it comes to talent.

Yes, it does restrict the options we have up front for a little while with Bendtner missing as well but this is what a squad is for, how are Chamakh and Vela going to get game-time otherwise? I am really looking forward to Vela getting match time this season because he really impressed me in pre-season, its time a bit of faith was put in him this season.

It might seem a bit ‘of same old Arsenal, always injured’ but there is nothing we can do to change it apart from just get on with things and look forward.  We just have to put our faith in a few players who would not make the starting eleven now, I can see Eboue maybe starting on the right against Bolton and Chamakh almost certainly starting up front.

One worrying bit of news is the reports coming out of the Czech press over the past few days, Tomas Rosicky sat out a couple of training sessions due to a groin niggle. Nothing else has been said about it so it might well be completely fine but whenever you hear the word injury followed closely by the name Tomas Rosicky you always worry.

There is still naff all about so I’ll leave it there.

Ciao.
