Everyone watching the England v Switzerland match will have cringed when seeing the injury Theo Walcott suffered tonight after landing awkwardly on his right ankle. My first instinct was that he had done his ankle ligaments and that means a pretty long lay-off – but if his studs were caught and with his ankle looking like this..:

…there was a possibility of a break, which would have been gutting after his brilliant start to the season. He also started off the move leading to Rooney’s opener. Been scoring a lot recently has Wayne…
It seems that the x-ray Theo had was nothing but a precaution and he will be out for under two weeks – as is being reported by Swiss news sources and the ever on the ball, John Cross.
Coming just hours after Robin van Persie was ruled out for another six weeks with an injury to his glass ankle it would have left us with three options to fill three places up front – a disaster.
At least its some light relief in a pretty grim day… and it could have been worse.
Till tomorrow.

By posting you agree to these…
2 weeks – let’s wait and see. Once the Arsenal medical team get their hands on him he’ll be out till Christmas.
Did anyone actually believe Wenger when he said Van Persie would be out for 8 to 10 days? F*ckin joke of a club
well said Alan mate. we r a fucking joke.
Niiiice, gunning ur own team!! Fukin twats!
Is this the same two weeks that Robin van Persie was going to be out that has somehow lengthened to 2 months.
How can getting injuries make the club a joke, looks like your posting on the right blog page as you are a couple of GOONS !!!!
Fyi, what makes the club a joke are the public announcements of title aspirations with the injury prone and weak squad that we have, and that nothing is ever done about it.
Mike, i guess if chamakh goes down you can play centre foward.
Paul that is a dumb as hell comment, as if you knew that RVP and Walcott would get injured so soon?
So you wanted another striker didnt you? you also wanted replacements for Nasri, Walcott, RVP, Bendtner and Song because you knew they would be injured?
The team will be ok -Vela, Arshavin and maybe JET can come in, not to mention the fact that our mid can score goals.
Go and support another team! I despise Arsenal supporters with your attitude!
Not strengthening the squad and letting more go than we bring in just to reduce our wage bill will be the undoing of my once hero Wenger…what he and Arsenal are doing now is nothing to do with title or cup aspirations just being a financially ship-shape company which is great if you’re not bothered about winning trophies/titles. Yet they take more money off us fans than anyone else and they owe us. Sick and tired of all these injuries over the last 4-5 yrs whilst at the same time getting rid of all our tall well built players who also had experience to our now small weak injury-prone players. And funnily enough that’s when we stopped winning things. Trying to turn Arsenal into a clone of the Spain team whilst spending as little as poss on squad improvements and paying off our debt ASAP instead of at a healthy rate so we’re still competing will mean another trophy-less season and wouldn’t surprise me if the spuds overtake us perish the thought!! Trust me i do support Arsenal but i am very concerned that we won’t win anything again come the end of the season…
These comments before mine are not a fair reflection of real arsenal fans. Good article, hopefully theo can keep the momentum he had going when he gets back. As for now chamak has a chance to show what he can do and vela is going to need to step up as we have a lot of games coming in the next 3 weeks.
Why has this turned into another excuse to moan? I guess it’s Wenger fault that they have been injured. We have out and out 3 CFs, what more do you want? We can only play one at a time. Do you really think we could sign a good centre forward who’ll be willing to be 4th choice? We also have at least 4 players who can play as wide forwards. Should we have signed more when only two can play at a time? Do other clubs have more depth in these positions? I don’t think they do. Look at Chelsea, if Drogba and Anelka get injured who’s gonna play upfront for them? Kalou and Sturridge would be their only fit strikers (Not exactly World Class are they) . Liverpool and Utd would be in a similar position. FFS take your heads out of your a***s and grow up.
Immediately i saw theo, i counted Arsenal’s remaining striker and i was like only Vela and Chamakh left, i guess we can make do with midfielders as strikers. No problem then.
I will put my right nut out there and say that Theo did his ligaments and he will be out for at least 2 months.
What is it with Arsenal players and injuries? Last season was a disaster. It’s early days this season and we are already having injury issues- Nasri, Song, Bendtner,Frimpong,Walcot, RVP and of course Ramsey. I do not think we are unlucky; I think we are not doing something right as a club with regards to players’ fitness. And Arsene Wenger, I think he has lost the plot.
Some of these comments not be made by true Arsenal fans.
1. Calling the team you’re supposed to support a joke is NOT the behaviour of a fan.
2. Rich, if we sell/let go Gallas, Campbell, Senderos, Eduardo and Silvestre from the first team squad and bring in 3 players from the outside + a number of players coming through the ranks, it’s not a problem.
Dave i agree with you wholeheartedly, arsenal always get injured, but the manager can not have a replacement for every one, thats why i hate these international breaks. When Drogba and Anelka is injured Chelsea struggles, when Rooney and whoever is injured Manu struggles, now the new thing is the managers fault for the injures, he is not doing something right, from the pictures seen Walcott turned his ankle , that occurs regularly for players, the damage may or may not be serious, but to say its the managers fault is foolish. Now with some of the injures other players will get a run and play their part in winning the title this season(JET, Gibbs, Aboue and Vela).
Four stretcher bears plus a first aid carrier has a ring of Hollywood about it to me. In most cases the patient does not have to be horizontal and can just sit on the first aid trolley to take the weight off the leg. With a history of ankle problems it`s unlikely any player would be back in under two weeks, we`ll see. It seems Wenger should be looking for a RVP substitute during the January window, this guy is just not going to last the distance.
I’m beginning to wonder about Van Persie. The questions that arise in my mind, and no doubt yours as well, are:
1) Is Van Persie unable to take the physical rigours of the game?
2) Is the club culpable for his injuries and of other players?
3) Are Arsenal players, like the shipmates aboard the Black Pearl, cursed?
It seems to me to be a mix between the three. That picture of Theo, depicting an errant boot in an unfortunate position coming against a slowly maturing but lithe speed merchant, illustrates that unholy trinity of circumstance. I wish there was some exorcist-like panacea to armour Arsenal against these devils of injury. But sadly that devil must work in mysterious ways….
On another note Wright-Phillips is an empty vessel. Why he is still in the England team after so many poor displays in the be-lioned shirt and for being so long outside Man City’s main squad is astronomically vexing. As I screamed at the TV during our defeat to Germany in the World Cup when Heskey was subbed on, Why Capello, WHY!?
hate to say this but i cant see van persie ever be that forcer of a striker that we all think of. he just doesnt seem strong enough and is the most injury prone player in the league, spain would be the best place for him if he was to ever go anywhere, GOD HELP THIS MAN!
Paul N…I despise fans like you. Always talking the same fuckrey about “go support another team!” fuckin bitch! Fans like you piss me off, happy with mediocrity. This isn’t about injuries, I am just fed up with reading the shit you spew on that ACLF site and other sites I read. “Go support another team!” Crying like a whiny little faggot!
Anyone thinking of eduardo now we never should of sold him IMO much better than bendtner. I hope it is only a short stint the joke is the injury not the club. Time for vela to step up and make us proud. If we the fans don’t believe then how will the team or should we just accept defeat before we have our chance to prove all the doubters wrong?? Fickle fans who have too many demands. I shake my head in sadness for you cos one day this little Aussie will outshine you in the stands at the emirates watching our boys win it all whilst singing the loudest. ARSENAL ARSENAL FC
With the injuries, it will be interesting to see Wenger’s lineups. I think we would see Chamakh, Arshavin and Nasri as our main 3 with Vela, Rosicky, and Eboue rotating in for some of the CL matches as well. We can also use Wilshire in the midfield or out wide. Not bad options but the sooner Theo comes back the better (let alone RVP).
Defense needs to be VERY strong now and Fabregas needs to get his head out of his backside and focus on this season with Arsenal. Also excited to see SS – Martin, will he start against Bolton?
All these fans having a go at Arsenal fans like me who aren’t happy with the way our club seem to be showing no ambition should stop telling us to shut up and support another team!! Every point i made earlier is valid and i think to myself that you lot that are anti-us are nuts accepting NOT WINNING TROPHIES…why??? It should be you lot that should support another team like Bolton that don’t win anything then you’ll be happy and leave us to vent our fustrations if we so wish and allow us to show our concern at the lack of silverware because i have ambition and so should my team Arsenal end of…
injury become an integral part of wenger policy.. To give chance 2 young.. Thank u theo
AussieJack and Goonermajic I Have begun to question whether van perdue can last as well he is not the same player he was when he first arrived I’ve always said that. Some people just can’t come back from injury after injury and what hurts the most with vp is the fact not only us the fans but even Alan parry and other commentators truly believe he is the most technically gifted and awesome player to watch in the premier league even claimed he was better than ronaldo. It just hasn’t gone his way by now he should of been top scorer maybe epl player of the season and the perfect replacement for henry. His free kicks don’t hit the target his cutting in from the left wing doesn’t happen at all. He is still the best link up player and we see how much influence he has in play but how much longer can the club afford th have a striker who is always injured. It breaks my heart.
Rich buddy how can you make these accusations about wenger how the fuck do you know what is going on in that poor bastards head. Look at him on the sidelines he is trying to make EVERYONE happy including YOU! How many titles have you won in the EPL how many times have you qualified or made it to the last 16 or semis or even finals of CL. I don’t think he enjoys losing anymore than you or any of us but atleast he knows how to manage a club , do you. Look at Chelsea and man u now follow suit with his vision on spending. Look how fucked Liverpool are look at Barcelona would u have it any other way or would you give this a chance to happen? It’s there mate the foundations have been laid and wenger will prove you and everyone like you wrong. What if he suffers a heart attack on the sidelines or something along those lines and he dies from the stress that is on his shoulders from all the negative pressure and don’t think it can’t happen cos it can. He
Wants to win just as much as you but he won’t sacrifice his values for it why don’t you start following man city after they sound like more of the team your keen to back.
And I would actsully show more respect to a Bolton fan than you after those comments because they don’t win trophies prob never will but they still rock up to games and show their support.
OzGooner i’m not saying that he’s a rubbish manager as for sure he gets the best out of what he has but it is what he has that could be so different. Do you not agree that we could have afforded to spend £30m this summer and get in some real quality additions inc a new GK which we badly needed and we could afford that after paying off the £100m+ from the Highbury Sq development. And when i say quality additions i believe that there were much better options avail than signing SS & LK until he left it far too late although i’m sure they will be ok but not sure they are WORLD CLASS. I just want my team to go back to winning things there’s no crime in me wanting that is there? Why didn’t he strengthen more this summer and he would have made the final decision not to and the board would have backed him and this my friend could unfortunately be his undoing but nothing would please me more to be proved wrong…
….it’s Fabianski’s fault….
A. Walcot gets injured. Not Wenger’s fault.
B. VP being injury prone… Tough, but manu carries sick puppies as does chelshit, liverpool…
C. When has moaning ever been constructive? It won’ change shit so might as well trudge along and support that team that is true to your ambitions at this point in time. The better bet, though, considering you want an Arsenal Gallacticos would be to acuire a copy of championship manager and fk around to your heart’s content.
D. You are a hypocrite. Everyone knows Wenger buys quality players then builds them up since way back. Now is when you have a problem with his buys?? Get a life
we are the most unluckiest team in the world in terms of inform players getting injured but we will survive im sure .
PK(what’s that pre kinderschool?)
A. Walcott, made of toilet tissue, always injured.
B. Van pus, made of toilet tissue, always injured.
C. We are not moaning, you are. We are proactive in addressing AFC’s obvious deficiencies. Moaners can’t be lumped into a single category of people who disagree with your idiocy.
D. Wenger has completely altered his philosophy from buying what’s needed to selling high, buying cheap. Galacticos? Now you really are an idiot.
Paul N. Too much shyte between your ears, not worth the effort.
If you are pleased with the way things are at Arsenal, there’s no need for you to say anything, just keep paying you season ticket and all the merchandise you can afford.
Maybe i was harsh on some players, but they really need to step up, it has to happen this year.
there is no need to cry… even wid all these injuries we still have a top class squad
arshavin chamak nasri/jet
fab song diaby/rosicky
clichy vermy squillani/kozz sagna
i think this a top 4 team squad..
people plz dont look at every thing so negitively.
The big question is can Robin and Walcott play soccer without getting injured? Their romance with injury each season endangers arsenal chances of winning anything. Lets pray and hope that we have seen the last of it this season.
Paul, no need to take anything personal but in mentioning moaners i meant moaning about stuff that you obviously cannot change and being an ass about it. I’d rather not react to your constant bitching. Quite honestly I’d rather just wait till the next game and support the team – win or lose but no, we had to have the doom brigade when the team needs support the most. But hey, it,s a free country, go on as you please.
This is a most unfortunate injury.
Less than 2 weeks is not true. He certainly won’t make braga as that is 1 week away.
He’ll be back in october at some point.
It is exactly the same situation as last season with the sheer weight of injuries and many not having kicked a ball yet.
We now have only 1 striker until mid october to take on all those upcoming games.
To all the people who are quoting JET and Vela to come in. Whilst I don’t doubt their quality but seriously we got sunderland away a week saturday. That’s a different game altogether compared to reserves/emirates cup/pre season cruising. The youngsters mentioned are just not yet ready for these type of committed games.
I just pray that we have no more injuries and that the defence is rock solid for the next month…
It is unfortunate what is prevalent on so many Arsenal-biased forums- “Arsenal fans” insulting Arsenal fans for expressing their views on issues relating to the club. I love this club and I always will. I’m sure you all do too. Let us respect each other’s opinions. Over a few seasons we have not been as successful as we know we could have been. Last season, goalkeeping errors cost more than just a few points in the league. One would expect a more ambitious club to easily have remedied that deficiency. Arsene Wenger is a great manager, but he has proved in recent times that maybe he has lost the plot. I would be the first to eat humble pie if Almunia and Fabianski prove me wrong this season. I really hope they do, but I ain’t holding my breath.
yo guyzz c’mon chill n relax why all r getting negative c’mon Arsenal has the replacement in the name of Rosicky,Nasri,Vela,Eboua and offcourse Wilshere…C’mon people evry1 blaming wenger n all should take a break n should not watch football…!!! Arsenal rulessss…Walcott get well So0nnnnnnnnn……. We are red, We are white, Arsenal is?? Dynamite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can anyone critize AW/Arsenal leadership for too small a squad. We have consistantly done very well in CC with mostly fringe/youth players. The Sun comments after we submitted the PL squad that we made a mockery out of the rule because we submitted so many names. Similar when submitting the “A/B-lists” for CL.
A possible team against Bolton (I hope Gibbs gets to start ahead of Clichy):
Almunia
Sagna, Squillaci, Vermalen, Gibbs
Fabregas, Song, Diaby
Eboue, Chamakh, Arshavin
Subs: Fabianski, Clichy, Koscielny, Denilson, Rosicky, Wilshere, Vela
Starting XI: 10 full internationals and on the bench is another 6 (albeit some are not automatically starters for their respective countries). This is while we have van Persie, Walcott, Nasri, Bendtner, Ramsey (5 full internationals) out injured as well as Frimpong.
Throughout the rest of Arsenal, there are more youth internationals than you can shake a stick at. Get real, Arsenal has an incredible depth in the squad but if you lose someone of the quality of van Persie, there is no way you can have a similar player ready as a replacement. ManCity has used oil money and bought lots of quality players but what are the discussion in the media – how to keep them all satisfied/happy. Of course, if we are to believe the stories about their pay cheques, that may help a lot. Chelsea got rid of 400k per week in salaries this summer or 20m over a year by dumping 4 players.
yet again these 2 are injured, complete disgrace, they should quit football.
God imagine if things worked out differently in life and some of you people had the pleasure of suporting a club like spurs, think how there fans must feel, i mean if you lot can bring youself to moan and bitch about arsenal and arsene as much as you do id guess you would have all jumped of bridges by now being tottenham fans!
Get a grip you geeks, the season is what 3 games old and its all doom and gloom already, im well pleased with the way the season has began, ok a couple of injuries (whats new) and we didnt get a new goalkeeper but thats the joy of football, it makes it entertaining….
What a bay news for arsenal again.Theo,Vp,Bentner, and etc down with injury.who next to go? oh God please healp us this season. If chamkah go down who will replace him?this is what we say buy player for the unexpected.
Apologies for the caps lock. I think a lot of the Arsenal fans don’t realise this:
ARSENE WENGER HAS TAKEN ARSENAL FROM ONE ERA TO ANOTHER.
“Once-favourite Arsene Wenger”, someone commented. Unfortunately, you’ll only realise it when his work starts bearing fruit. It happened with Flamini, Song, even Henry, remember?
Now I’m not saying he’s never at fault. Sure, he has his share of errors, who doesn’t? But for fuck’s sake, not everybody takes a club from one era to another.
And all I’m asking you is to think about that before you start writing him off.
Can you do that? Yes, thank you; that’s very kind of you, sir.
Hello ? really fantastic web page you might have produced. I loved reading this submitting. I did would like to compose a remark to tell you that the design of this web site is incredibly aesthetically pleasing. I used to get a graphic designer, now I am a duplicate editor. I have often loved working with pcs and am trying to discover code in my spare time.
