BBC Usmanov propaganda disgraceful + Eboue exit, Huntelaar arrival?

Evening all,

one would expect the BBC to always give a balanced view on things, especially after it prides itself on so called impartiality. So when an interview is conducted with an associate of Alisher Usmanov, and also with someone with no standing in the game, you would expect them to seek some sort of second opinion, maybe from the football club in question?

As first reported by Goonerholic, this morning David Davies of Sportsweek on Radio 5 Live conducted what was obviously a pre-planned and a seriously lightweight interview with Usmanov’s right hand man, Farhad Moshiri. The ‘holic goes into the interview in more detail and also discusses the links between Davies and David Dein.

Quite frankly, I expect better from Britain’s primary news source.

Onto the usual Sunday rumours. Its being reported by the serial bullshitters Marca that Klaas Huntelaar has been the subject of a 15 million bid by us. Quite frankly I do not rate Huntelaar as highly as quite a few other people do, I think he is a very good player but is not proven enough to be the ‘world class’ player people portray him to be. He is hardly proven outside Holland and has a good goalscoring record for a national team that has some of the most creative attacking players on this planet.

When Madrid brought him for 20 odd million I thought they were paying way over the odds, at around 12 million I would be happy to take a punt on the guy but 15 million is too much money to risk when we have such more obvious need for defensive minded players.

This season we also have to put a certain amount of faith in the likes of Theo Walcott and Carlos Vela who both have points to prove and futures to seal. Out of the two of them, Vela is the more naturally talented, but Walcott has the riproaring pace we have really been in need of since Henry left.

Splashing out 15 million, which is a hell of a lot of money for a club like Arsenal, just does not make sense with the other options we have, the likes of Eduardo, Bendtner and van Persie are all capable of over 15 goals a season each. Eduardo has been building up his fitness since last season to prevent any more setbacks and Bendtner has shown he has the eye for an important match-winning goal already.

There is also quite a bit more speculation over the future of Emmanuel Eboue, there has been confirmed interest Fiorentina’s end but at the end of the day it will be Eboue’s choice to stay or go. I think it would be a big help if we keep him, he is a key member of the squad though many people will disagree with me. He is our only recognised right back cover whilst also being able to fill in at left back and on the right side of midfield.

In previous years Wenger has repeatedly stated the most important thing to do in a summer is keep hold of as many players as possible as not to disrupt the relationship between the lads, another departure might just start to give a few players twitchy arses, especially if we are a player down on last season with two players having left to the one arrival.

Right I think thats about it.

More tomorrow.
