Jay Simpson Out To Show His Potential

Jay Simpson is set to join West Brom for the rest of the season after agreeing a new 2 and a half year deal with the club. It will be a great opportunity for him to get some Premiership experience because i think he has a future at the club. He is very much an orthodox centre forward, not the best technique wise but he works really hard and is a true Gooner to boot. I was hoping to see him on the right hand side of midfield before now because he is strong and has bundles of pace, but it seems that Wenger has said he can go out on loan again, it will be a big step up from last season’s loan at Milwall where he won player of the season in League 1. Helpfully he shows his potential and is part of the first team for next season, id love to see a born Gooner out on the Emirates pitch.

I updated yesterdays post with the news that Cesc will face 4 months on the sidelines after a partial rupture of his knee ligaments. It will be a massive massive loss and i think Wenger knows he has to spend now, Denilson, Song and Diaby are not good enough to replace him, they would only get into a bottom half teams midfield as a unit i think, they are just not ready. Here are the probable candidates for the role, with a few added extras.

Denilson: Potential, but that is all. He is a very good passer of the ball and i think he is one of players that has featured in the most games this season, he has done well but is being groomed for a more defensive role and him and Song in midfield could prove disastrous. Possibility rating; 8

Diaby: I think he could be leaving soon in all honesty, Wenger recently admitted he was not at all disciplined which he would have to be to play regularly in the centre of midfield, hence why he is being played out wide more often than not, he is powerful with fantastic close control but its all wasted with poor decision making. Possibility rating; 6

Bischoff: Its his role, but he has not made many first team appearances and is now 21, its hard to believe that Wenger would just throw him straight in, he again has lots of potential and has looked a good player in the reserves but has he got it? I just cant see Wenger chucking him straight into things, but i think he will get some game-time now. Possibility rating; 4

Now onto players we dont currently have.

Elano: I wrote in yesterdays blog that he is not getting on well and Man Citeh with him not getting on well with Mark Hughes, i think he is a gifted player and at the start of last season he would have walked into any Premiership side. He offers a big threat from set pieces, is used to the Premiership and would be fresh. Plus, he could just be a loan signing. Possibility rating; 6

Riquelme: A fantastic footballer and was on the shortlist for world player of the year a few years ago, he has Champions League experience, is looking for a big club and is a brilliant play-maker. I just cant see it happening though. Possibility rating; 1

Appiah: Free agent, powerful runner with the ball and has lots of experience. He has played for some top clubs and he could be picked up for a pittance, on the downside he has come back from a bad knee injury and will be very short of match sharpness after a long time out of the game. Possibility rating; 2

I really don’t have a clue what Arsene is going to do, i hope to God he buys or we will have no creativity what-so-ever. What do you readers think?

Wenger is having a barney with Graham ’3 yellows’ Poll. From the way i look at it Poll has said that Wenger is feeling the pressure and is taking it out on referees. To first rile Wenger he said it takes more thought when the England captain is involved in a situation, he said:

“there is great pressure on an official when dealing with the England captain.”

Why should it be any different to John Terry than to Adebayor for instance? Hang on… One of them is English.

Wenger responded:

“For me it was embarrassing when you listen to that,’ Wenger said. ‘They ask whether it was a sending-off or not. He says you have to consider that you are sending off the captain of the national team.

‘What has that got to do with the rulebook? The rulebook doesn’t look at passports. When you listen to that it is embarrassing for the referees.

‘Is it a sending-off or not? Are you from England or not from England? Are you 17 or 30? It has nothing to do with that.

‘It is a big concern when you hear the national number one referee talk like that.’

You cant help but agree can you? You might get a bit of jip from ‘The Sun’ or some other newspapers but that’s the job they are paid to do!

Its like a soldier not shooting Bin Laden for being the leader of Al-Qaeda but shooting his sidekick because he is not as important.

Its a joke.

Wenger added:

“I do not think (they are talking reputations into account) but when I hear statements like that, it makes you change your mind,”

They just dont understand the game, therefore should not be refereeing in it!

Wrecking His Career

Wrecking His Career

Being the idiot he is, Jermaine Pennant has squandered a move to Real Madrid, the fee was agreed, but he wanted more money. What the hell was he thinking, he is sending his career down the drain, Real Madrid or Wigan/Stoke?

The Mail say:

Instead Pennant, who asked for £60,000 a week — almost double what was being offered by the Spanish giants — will now have to decide whether to accept a loan offer from Wigan or Stoke.

30 grand a week!? Most people don’t see that in a year and he is asking for double! What is wrong with footballers?

He is a talented player but you see that picture and you see someone wasting a career, i actually sympathise with him, too much money too young.

Anyway; have a fantastic Christmas Eve, and Christmas in general!

Ill be back with a quick update tomorrow but it wont be long.

Enjoy the festivities!

Til next time.
