Trophy number one crossed off the list

Well our tame performance started quite chirpy, Wilshere threading in some nice passes but then poor defending allowed Burnley to take the lead. We must have had five chances in the first half at least but poor finishing and good goalkeeping keeping us out.

In the second half we were toothless, one fantastic run from Merida was the brightest part, the rest was quite frankly dull.

Now, ive been a big supporter of Nik Bendtner, ive said he could become a fantastic player but his body language tonight was nothing short of shit. Quite frankly Simpson should have started because he will probably not play for the club again. Bendtner did nothing all night apart from miss 1 on 1’s and stand there moaning. Poor form from the big Dane.

To be frank, some players will not make it on that showing. Rodgers was given a torrid time at the back and Silverstre has shown why he should be the defender to make way in January, Randall was pretty poor, actually they were all poor.

I think we should have had some better options on the bench, these kids need a winning mentality from a young age, they need to win the Carling Cup to get that experience and they wont win it without a couple of the first teamers in there. I feel Wengers decisions deserve some criticism tonight, Ramsey was having a shocker, and he didnt replace him but replaced Wilshere?

As said in the last blog, Bischoff did feature but we didnt really get to see much of him, ive heard good things about the 21 year old and he can play out on either side of midfield so looks to be a handy player for when he is ready for the step up to the Premiership.

I hope we have not seen the last of Jay Simpson, though i think we have. He is hardworking, a good finisher and pacy but the tap tapping of passes that Wenger likes is not his strength, and for that reason i think he is going to leave. And in the very very vain hope that AW reads this blog, keep this kid, he wants to fight for the shirt! Bendtner wants pink boots, not Arsenal.

I think Burnley deserved to win to tell you the truth, we were poor on the night. No complaints.

Interest in Yaya Toure seems to be hotting up, maybe we could swoop?

Anyway, til next time gooners.
